An exciting opportunity has recently arisen with one of my manufacturing clients based close to Darwen. The company has been going for over 40 years and now turns over £55-60 million, with a staff base of nearly 400. The company is seeking a Design Engineer to support the engineering team. This is an exciting role, with a lot of variety due to every product being bespoke to each customer. You will be responsible for managing the engineering project from concept to manufacture and will be involved in new product development.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, your key responsibilities will be as follows:
- To design and manufacture a full range of products for their customers
- Ensure all products designed are fit for purpose and comply with the latest regulations
- Work with sales, purchasing, sub-contractors & production departments to deliver high quality engineered products
- The successful delivery of all design projects allocated
- Support sales with new designs and customer quote drawings
- Look to continuous improvement on product design methods and production procedures
- Proactive attitude to problem solving and solutions
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and prevailing business regulations
Essential Requirements:
- Must be computer literate with 3D CAD experience
- Degree qualified or HNC/HND in mechanical engineering
- Preferably some experience of sheet metal/fabrication
- Experience of designing for complex assembly
- Must have rights to work in the UK; unfortunately, my client is unable to offer sponsorship at this time
The company is offering £35-42k depending on the experience of the individual and will look at candidates with 2+ years upwards.
