A leading global engineering manufacturer within power transmission and drive technology is looking to appoint an Area Sales Manager to manage and develop an established South East territory. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience across geared motors, industrial gear units, bearings, drives, rotating equipment or wider mechanical power transmission products who enjoys a consultative, field-based sales environment. The business has a strong reputation for engineering quality, technical support and long-term customer relationships, with significant investment and an established UK operation.

The Role

You will take ownership of an existing territory across the South East, managing a mix of established accounts whilst identifying and developing new business opportunities. It is essential that the candidate understands power, speed and torque. This is a technical field sales role requiring both commercial awareness and application understanding.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing existing customer accounts across the territory
  • Generating and converting new project opportunities
  • Conducting customer site visits and developing long-term relationships
  • Supporting customers on product selection and application suitability
  • Working across OEM, end user and distribution channels
  • Producing quotations and progressing opportunities through to order
  • Managing commercial negotiations and maintaining margins
  • Delivering a structured territory growth plan

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience selling or supporting technical products within industrial engineering environments. Suitable backgrounds may include (but must have a strong understanding of power, speed and torque regardless):

  • Geared motors / gearboxes
  • Bearings

  • Industrial automation
  • Rotating equipment
  • Mechanical handling equipment
  • Industrial drives
  • Technical field sales
  • Application engineering with commercial exposure

You will ideally be able to demonstrate:

  • Territory management experience
  • Account growth and new business generation
  • Commercial negotiation skills
  • Technical understanding of power, speed, torque and application selection
  • Experience selling into OEMs, distributors and/or end users
  • Strong relationship-building and project tracking capability
