We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will support daily financial operations, assist with bookkeeping, and contribute to the smooth running of financial processes within our organisation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career in finance within a professional environment. You will join the established finance team that is responsible for the financial operation activities, financial reporting, payroll and procurement for this charity. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will work as a member of the finance team supporting the day-to-day finance, procurement and payroll processes. We are looking for an experienced finance assistant that is seeking a new role with a rapidly expanding organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Managing the finance and procurement mailboxes
- Responsibility for the procurement process
- Supporting the monthly payroll processing with support from the finance manager and HR
- Respond to internal and external financial queries
- Input supplier invoices into the Sage accounting system
- Reconciliation of supplier statements
- Receiving and processing staff expense claims
- Process supplier payments via BACS or bank transfer making necessary postings to the accounting system
- Liaise with finance management to ensure timely payment of payroll taxes and VAT
- Process debit card and prepaid card transactions across the organisation
- Raise sales invoices and perform credit control activities
- Processing of staff expenses and debit card / prepaid card transactions
- Performing bank reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Supporting the Finance Director with ad hoc requests
- Minimum of three years’ previous experience in a similar role
- A professional attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across the organisation
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks
- Experience of using SAGE or similar computerised accounting package(s)
- Competent with MS Office software, in particular Excel
- Organised and structured
- GCSEs or equivalent including Maths & English
- Full/part AAT qualified (or qualified by experience)
Working for 30 hours per week with flexibility to work from home. The hours can be tailored to suit the job holder perhaps around school hours. Need to have driving license and car.
