About the Role

White Horse are exclusively partnering with a leading UK organisation operating within the infrastructure and environmental delivery sector, specialising in complex project delivery that combines civil engineering works with environmentally focused outcomes. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. This includes planning, mobilisation, construction delivery, and project close-out, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on time, to required quality standards, and within commercial targets (SQTC).

This is a hands-on leadership role where traditional civil engineering delivery is combined with environmental and land-based improvement works, incorporating nature-led approaches that support long-term sustainability, biodiversity, and resilience outcomes. You will play a key role in ensuring successful project delivery through strong commercial control, effective contract management, and proactive leadership of site teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Delivery
    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of construction projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
    • Manage site teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
    • Ensure projects are delivered in line with scope, programme, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Commercial & Contract Management
    • Manage NEC3 / NEC4 (and occasionally JCT) contracts, ensuring strong commercial control throughout delivery.
    • Oversee forecasting, cost management, valuations, cashflow, and financial reporting.
    • Lead the identification, assessment, and management of change, risk, and opportunity.
    • Work closely with commercial teams to ensure projects remain financially and commercially on track.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring clear communication and expectation management.
    • Lead regular progress meetings and provide accurate updates on programme, cost, and performance.
    • Collaborate effectively with supply chain partners and subcontractors.
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead and develop Site Managers and site teams to deliver high performance.
    • Support resource planning across the business unit’s project portfolio.
    • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and delivery-focused team culture.
  • Business Support & Growth
    • Support bids, tenders, and pre-construction activity where required.
    • Contribute to business development through strong client relationships and identifying future opportunities.

About You

We are looking for a commercially strong and delivery-focused Project Manager with experience in civils or environmental project environments.

  • Strong NEC3 / NEC4 contract management experience (JCT experience beneficial).
  • Strong commercial awareness including forecasting, valuations, and change control.
  • Experience managing site-based teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • HNC / HND (or equivalent experience) in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Project Management.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional body such as CIEEM or CIWEM.
  • Experience with environmentally focused or land-based infrastructure projects.

What’s on Offer

  • Opportunity to lead varied and technically interesting project portfolios.
  • Strong focus on professional development and career progression.
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment.
  • Exposure to innovative, sustainability-led project delivery approaches.

Why Apply

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who wants genuine ownership of projects from start to finish, combining strong civil engineering delivery with meaningful environmental outcomes.
