White Horse Employment is proud to be working on a retained and exclusive basis with Pococks Poultry to recruit a Finance Assistant (Sales Ledger) to join their growing finance team. Pococks Poultry is a long established, family run business with an outstanding reputation for quality, customer service and traditional values. The Role

We are looking for a detail oriented and proactive Finance Assistant (Sales Ledger) to join the team in Melksham. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in finance who enjoys working in a family run, collaborative environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raising sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Posting customer payments and processing credit notes
  • Reconciling customer accounts and maintaining accurate sales ledger records
  • Monitoring outstanding balances and issuing customer statements
  • Proactively chasing overdue payments
  • Resolving invoice and payment queries efficiently
  • Liaising with customers and internal departments to investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Supporting external accountants with year-end processes
  • Assisting with month-end reporting and audit requirements

What we're looking for

  • Between 3-4 years' experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role with strong sales ledger exposure
  • Familiar with the system software Sage
  • Comfortable working within an SME or family run business environment
  • Detail focused with strong organisational skills
  • An excellent communicator who can confidently build relationships with customers, colleagues and senior stakeholders
  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team
