White Horse Employment are delighted to be supporting a dynamic, internationally operating business based near Bristol in the search for a Financial Controller. This is a pivotal role within the finance function, reporting directly to the Finance Director. You will take full ownership of the financial control environment, ensuring robust reporting, strong governance, and high-quality insight to support business decision-making. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who enjoys balancing technical excellence with driving improvements and influencing stakeholders across the wider organisation.
Responsibilities
- Take accountability for accurate and timely financial reporting across the business
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close cycles
- Oversee balance sheet integrity, working capital performance and cash management
- Strengthen and evolve financial controls, reconciliations and governance procedures
- Deliver clear reporting and meaningful commentary to senior leadership
- Act as the main liaison for audit activity and financial reviews
- Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements
- Partner closely with operational and commercial teams to advise on accounting implications
- Support wider business change initiatives, including integration and transformation projects
- Promote strong financial discipline and adherence to policies and compliance standards
About You
We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience operating at Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager level, ideally within a fast-moving or scaling environment. You will bring:
- Strong technical accounting expertise and a sound understanding of current standards
- A track record of improving processes, controls and reporting frameworks
- Confidence working cross-functionally and influencing senior stakeholders
