Services & Support encompasses 500 people across 27 facilities worldwide. Global engineering group specializing in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defence and energy markets. Some 11,000 people are employed across manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe and North America and regional bases in Brazil, India and the Middle East.

Support for life: We’re dedicated to servicing commercial and military aircraft products, through our MRO and spares distribution operation – that means thousands of products arising from 25+ core capabilities ranging from fire detectors to wheels and brakes.

Purpose: The Product & Services Development Director leads the development of existing in-service products and new services to create additional value for the CSS Customer Support organisation and customers. The critical area of focus will be the building and development of a team to deliver everything from Retrofits, Modifications, Upgrades (RMU), repair schemes and MRO smart scoping, to technical/product focused in-field support services. Additional responsibilities will include developing and maintaining a robust RMU process; establishing the guidelines of how the after market development process will work with SBU engineering across Meggitt; extending and maturing the function and playing a full role within the Customer Support team with regards to long-term strategy development and deployment.

In support of the critical tasks, the job holder will be required to manage in an international matrix organisation and across the breadth of Meggitt product lines.

Functional Experience: The successful Product & Services Development Director is an experienced leader who is open-minded, probing and a catalyst for formulating new and improved after market business strategies. It is critical that the Product & Services Development Director has a track record of success within an aftermarket service environment, managing in a matrix organisation, setting goals and objectives, and ensuring those targets are met in a timely manner. The successful executive will have also experience in a high-growth, high-change environment and will be a people-oriented, charismatic leader who can lead the business to reach both short and long-term objectives.

Leadership Style: A charismatic, dynamic leader, this executive consistently leads and accomplishes through a combination of leadership by example and strong teamwork. This executive must have the ability to clearly articulate the CSS mission and goals, motivate people to achieve those goals, and be enthusiastically accepted as a leader. Intuitive, intelligent, high-energy and with a bias for action, the executive will have an open communication style with a strong teamwork orientation and ability to foster energy and enthusiasm at every level.

Additional Success Factors: Must have experience that shows sufficient presence and leadership to develop and maintain relationships with customers, strategic partners, executive staff, and other internal and external audiences. Must place a high value on performance management, be a progressive thinker, a listener, and an individual who is comfortable with participation from fellow executive peers.

Responsibilities: Accountable to the Senior Vice President, Customer Support, the job holder has full responsibility for the development of in-service products and new services through a direct and matrix reporting structure. Building an organisation that will deliver a Β£30M p.a. business by end of 2022. Delivering robust tools and processes to enable the team to perform their activities efficiently and effectively. Enhancing and maturing service development capability to ensure the hopper of new ideas is maximized, whilst speed to market is minimized. Work seamlessly with existing SBU engineering and external resources to maximize success. Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that ideas being generated remain current to our customers' issues and needs. Ensure supporting business cases are at a depth and quality to meet approval requirements.

Minimum Requirements: Previous management experience within the in-service product and repair development areas of an aerospace support organization. Experience with certification and approval requirements related to repair schemes, modifications, etc. (e.g. DER, STC and Type Certificate holder approval). Aftermarket product development for military bids would be highly beneficial.
