Our client is a retailer with a number of leading international furniture and home furnishings and accessories brands within its portfolio. Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the candidate is expected to travel to India, China, and the Middle East on an ad hoc basis.
We are currently seeking a graduate calibre, experienced end-to-end supply chain planning specialist. Experience with Oracle, WMS, RED Prairie, SAP or similar ERP systems would be advantageous. The successful candidate’s experience will include in-depth exposure to:
- Supply chain sales forecasting
- Inventory management
- Merchandising
- Category management
- Inbound freight/logistics
- Supply chain planning experience gained within the furniture, home furnishings and home accessories sector
This experience will ideally have been gained within a leading home furnishings, furniture or department store retailing environment. This is a strategic role managing a team of supply chain planning specialists, and you will also be responsible for managing and negotiating relationships with international/3PL freight forwarding and shipping lines, international logistics providers, as well as suppliers and leading furniture and furnishings brands.
The Ideal Candidate: You will have a significant operational and strategic track record of international inbound logistics, supply chain forecasting, supply chain planning, and supply chain development gained within the home furnishings, furniture and home accessories retail sector. This experience must have been gained within an international or large retailing organisation. The ideal candidate will have excellent sales forecasting, merchandising, category management, and inbound supply chain planning experience. If this experience has been gained within the Middle East, Europe, or Asia/Australasia with international home furnishings, then this will be particularly advantageous. Home furnishings supply chain experience is a prerequisite.
This role does not cover on-the-ground road transport or warehousing in the Middle East, just international freight and shipping movements into the Free Trade Zone in Dubai.
Experience of The Role: Utilising your experience in the field, you will coach and mentor the supply chain team in order to establish and develop best practice within the division. Previous experience with Asian, American, European, and MENA supply chains is desirable; however, this position offers the opportunity for a candidate without prior experience of these varied markets to learn and develop on the job and grow their own knowledge base in the process. You will manage all aspects of the Supply Chain, implementing systems for effective and accurate forecasting, inventory, and replenishment at all levels. Manage supply arrangements, interacting strongly with specific brand support services and local suppliers. Monitor performance of the Supply Chain, develop budgets, and ensure timely and accurate information flows within and outside the business.
