Our Business Development & Marketing team plays a critical role in enhancing the Firm’s reputation, expanding its client base and driving revenue growth. This team develops and implements strategic marketing plans to promote the Firm’s legal services, leveraging digital and traditional marketing channels to reach target audiences. They conduct market research to identify industry trends and client needs, positioning the Firm competitively within the legal marketplace. The team also manages client relationships, orchestrates business development initiatives, and seeks opportunities for partnerships and networking. Through compelling content creation, event planning and public relations efforts, they ensure that the Firm maintains a strong market presence and continues to attract and retain clients.
The Specialist, Business Development - Industry Groups, is a professional support role within the Global Clients & Industries team, responsible for delivering high-quality analysis, coordination, and executional support across Industry Group business development and marketing activity. The role supports one or more Industry Groups and works closely with Industry Group BD Managers, Senior Managers, and Associate Directors to help deliver client cultivation initiatives, industry positioning activity, and internal engagement. In some cases, the role may support multiple Industry Groups concurrently, flexing to meet business needs. The Specialist applies strong technical expertise across business development tools, research, reporting, and content coordination to ensure Industry Group initiatives are delivered accurately, consistently, and in line with Firm standards.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Business Development Support: Support delivery of Industry Group business development initiatives, including client outreach programs, internal meetings, and engagement activity. Assist with preparation of background materials, briefing notes, and analysis to support Industry Group strategy and client development. Help maintain Industry Group pipelines, trackers, and reporting tools in collaboration with Managers and Marketing Operations. Support effective use of research, CRM, and BD systems to track activity and support informed decision-making.
- Market and Industry Insight: Conduct and collate industry, market, and competitor research to support understanding of industry trends, client activity, and growth opportunities. Prepare summaries and insight materials to support Industry Group planning, pitches, and client discussions. Monitor relevant industry news and developments to support timely internal updates and communications.
- Marketing and Brand-Building Support: Support development and maintenance of Industry Group credentials, experience lists, and marketing collateral. Assist with coordination of thought leadership initiatives, including gathering inputs, managing timelines, and supporting publication. Support delivery of industry-focused pitches, proposals, and RFPs with relevant industry context and materials. Assist with coordination of industry events, client trainings, and profile-raising initiatives in collaboration with Marketing & Communications teams.
- Internal Engagement and Coordination: Support coordination of internal Industry Group meetings, working groups, and communications. Assist with preparation of internal updates, presentations, and reporting on Industry Group activity. Build effective working relationships with Practice Group BD teams, Global Strategic Client teams, and other business services colleagues to support delivery.
- Process, Systems, and Continuous Improvement: Support data quality, reporting accuracy, and consistent use of BD tools and systems across Industry Groups. Assist with tracking and reporting of Industry Group activity, supporting performance monitoring. Contribute to continuous improvement of BD processes, templates, and ways of working. Provide technical and process support to BD colleagues, sharing best practices where appropriate.
Qualifications and skills
- Experience working in a professional/financial services environment or similar role at a large corporation (at least three years).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience; professional certification an advantage where appropriate.
- Experience supporting business development, marketing, research, or client programs within a professional services environment.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information into clear, practical outputs.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative working style and willingness to support multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with CRM, research, or document management systems is advantageous.

Location
This role is based in our London office and our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 4 days in the office (Monday - Thursday) per week.
