We are looking for an Allocation & Development Manager to join our London office to support our Capital Markets practice groups. This position presents an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the development of legal talent for one of our practices. The Allocation & Development Manager will engage directly with Associates to understand their interests and objectives, in order to provide access to the experiences and relationships they need to build their careers. The role is heavily people focused, built on establishing strong working relationships with a number of key stakeholders across the Firm.
This role will focus specifically on the effective management of our Capital Markets Partners and Associates throughout EMEA. The Allocation & Development Manager will seek to ensure that the associates are appropriately staffed and utilised at all times, while balancing the pursuit of a rich and well-rounded associate experience with the immediate needs of the business. The role will also require the Allocation & Development Manager to network across the sections EMEA offices and be a point of contact for Partners and Associates.

Key Responsibilities
Resource Management
- Acting as a neutral third party for Associates and Partners, promoting equitable work allocation and professional development
- Managing staffing requests and coordinating with Staffing Partners and the wider team
- Liaising between Associates and Partners, coordinating staffing processes and representing Associates in complex Partner interactions
- Monitoring and reporting on work allocation KPIs to practice leadership
- Conducting weekly check-ins with Associates on capacity, career interests, development needs, and work allocation feedback
- Ensuring efficient and timely staffing by monitoring lawyer utilisation and assessing capacity
- Maintaining clear communication, keeping stakeholders informed on initiatives, developments, and critical topics
- Collaborating with the London People team and HR Partners on staffing-related issues, ensuring a streamlined experience for the EMEA Capital Markets team
- Providing regular data reports and insights on staffing trends and utilisation to leadership and key stakeholders
- Networking with global contacts on key trends and best practices in work allocation
Practice Management
- Supporting engagement initiatives
- Collaborating with Partners and the People team on the annual evaluation process, participating in local moderation and providing feedback
- Driving Associate career development by promoting the use of the Real-Time Feedback tool
- Liaising with the Regional Section Head and Staffing Partners to monitor associate performance, development, and career aspirations
- Working with People and Business Development teams to resource approved client secondments
- Assisting with recruitment initiatives as needed
- Liaising with trainee supervisors to monitor performance and allocate work
- Working with Engagement & Development and Professional Support Lawyers to ensure associates receive appropriate training opportunities
Qualifications and skills
- Prior experience in associate development, work allocation, and/or resource management, ideally within a law firm or large professional services environment
- Strong commercial and business awareness

Location and Reporting
This role is based in our London office, and reports into the Senior Manager of Allocation & Development EMEA. Please note that although this role is based in London, there will be a requirement to regularly travel to our EMEA offices.
Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
