Overview

As Market & Competitive Insights Manager in White & Case’s global Research & Market Intelligence team, you will lead high-impact analytics that inform the Firm’s client strategy and growth priorities.

You’ll provide clear, data-driven guidance to senior stakeholders and support everyday client development, pitches, and relationship-building activities.

You will design both quantitative and qualitative analyses across industries, monitor market and competitive developments, and help embed market intelligence capabilities across our global network.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and presentation of client, sector, market, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities and drive growth
  • Collaborate with Firm leadership to support strategic decision-making with concise reports and actionable insights
  • Proactively monitor key clients and industry sectors to surface opportunities and risks for stakeholders
  • Execute quantitative and qualitative analyses on broad themes down to single-name level across industries and markets
  • Provide actionable market intelligence and competitive insights to support business development and client growth strategies
  • Support lateral hiring decisions with competitor benchmarking and candidate-market analysis
  • Stay at the forefront of CI methodologies, including AI, data analytics, and automation, and promote relevant tools
  • Present findings to partners and senior management, and build credibility for the CI function
  • Deliver training and self-service resources on market intelligence for lawyers and MB&D colleagues
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with BI, Practice Solutions, MB&D and Strategy to standardise reporting and insights
  • Manage and guide the global Market Intelligence team and oversee outsourced research providers
  • Lead complex research engagements from scoping to delivery with strong project management and quality control
  • Mentor colleagues on research methods and analytics applications in commercial intelligence
  • Cultivate an inclusive, high-performing team culture centered on client service
  • Key requirements
  • 10+ years of research and analytical experience, preferably in strategy/management consulting, investment banking, professional services, or corporate settings; international law firm experience preferred
  • Proven track record in shaping and delivering CI strategy and research capabilities
  • Robust experience in data analytics and delivering action-oriented insights to support strategic goals
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred
  • Solid understanding of research techniques, data analysis, and market/competitor intelligence
  • Deep expertise in business, financial, and market data sources; ability to evaluate/adopt new platforms
  • Familiarity with financial data platforms: Mergermarket, Capital IQ, Pitch Book, Dealogic, Bloomberg, Debtwire, Refinitiv; knowledge of M&A/PE/Capital Markets/Project Finance data a plus
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic and geopolitical trends affecting key industries (private capital, technology, energy, infrastructure)
  • Ability to tell impactful stories with data and to visualise analyses clearly
  • Experience applying AI to workflows in research/analytics and proficiency with AI platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a global environment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
