Our Business Intelligence group is a centre of excellence at the Firm for data analytics, data management and data governance, with a focus on enhancing data and analytics literacy, reliability and accessibility, and developing an umbrella strategy for data and information governance throughout the Firm. The group is responsible for transforming data into actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. Our teams collect, analyse and interpret growing amounts of data from core internal and external sources. We develop and maintain datasets, dashboards and reports that provide real-time visibility into key performance indicators and trends. By leveraging advanced analytics and data visualisation techniques, the Business Intelligence group identifies opportunities for growth, uncovers inefficiencies and helps predict future trends. We collaborate with all functions to ensure data integrity and to tailor insights to meet specific business needs. Through our expertise in data analysis and strategic thinking, the Business Intelligence team empowers the Firm to make informed, data-driven decisions that drive success and competitive advantage.

Within Practice Solutions sits the Practice Technology Transactions sub-function, which drives technology-enabled transformation across transactional practice areas, offering support for AI-enabled due diligence and contract review, document automation and workflow optimisation, transaction and closing management, and cross-party collaboration solutions.

As part of the Firm’s Practice Solutions Function that focuses on driving innovation for our practices, the Business Intelligence (BI) group is responsible for driving the Firm’s data culture and strategy, maturing its data and business intelligence capabilities. Collaborating with data governance and development teams, our Business Analysis team interfaces across the Firm for a broad range of internal BI needs.

The Business Analyst in the BI function plays a pivotal role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the firm. This position partners with stakeholders to understand business needs, translates requirements into actionable solutions, and champions the adoption and development of BI tools and best practices. Operating within an Agile development cycle, the Business Analyst ensures that solutions are delivered iteratively, efficiently, and in close collaboration with stakeholders. The role is integral to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, ensuring that data quality, governance, and ethical standards are upheld in all analytical activities. Duties and Accountabilities

  • Understand the key drivers of the firm, from a business of law and a practice of law perspective, to assist stakeholders and “join-the-dots” on their data and BI requirements.
  • Independently lead and manage end-to-end BI and analysis projects with multi-skilled teams, fostering a data-driven culture and ensuring timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define, document, and prioritise business requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and guide stakeholders on how data, analytics, and BI tools can be leveraged to solve business problems.
  • Be able to elicit pain points, process gaps, and improvement opportunities and translate business challenges into clear, actionable work items for development and ensuring solutions are scalable and value driven.
  • Collaborate with shared services and cross-functional teams to innovate and optimise business processes, leveraging BI and legal AI capabilities.
  • Apply Agile project management practices, including participation in sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives, to ensure transparency, adaptability and iterative delivery of BI solutions that respond to evolving business needs and drive ongoing process and product improvements.
  • Understand data quality initiatives, including data lineage, metadata management, and remediation of data issues.
  • Identify and document data pain points and work closely with developers and data engineers to proactively communicate within the BI group and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Support change management activities for new or enhanced BI solutions, including stakeholder communications, training support, hypercare and tracking of adoption and usage metrics.
  • Drive engagement with BI tools (e.g.: Power BI) through targeted training, outreach, and enablement programmes.
  • Deliver demos, create user guides, and identify new project opportunities to maximise tool adoption and business value.
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback in Agile cycles to continuously improve BI solutions and user experience.
  • Monitor industry trends, particularly in legal AI and analytics, to ensure the firm remains at the forefront of BI capabilities.
  • Comfortable writing or reviewing basic SQL to validate logic and data.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms such as Databricks.

Qualifications and skills

  • 3–4+ years’ experience in hands‑on business analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management, with experience in professional services preferred.
  • Experience in gathering requirements and delivering projects for reporting, analytical projects, and more advanced BI opportunities (such as predictive models) is preferred.
  • An understanding of both the global economic environment and local markets relevant to the firm’s business, including familiarity with the firm’s key clients, geographies, and industries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible self‑starter comfortable with tackling new projects independently while also being able to take directions from senior staff.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively manage time and tight deadlines; able to multitask.

Location and Reporting

This role is based in London, and reports into the Associate Director of Business Intelligence. Our standard office hours are 09:30‑18:00, with a requirement for 4 days in the office per week.
