Our Business Development & Marketing team plays a critical role in enhancing the Firm’s reputation, expanding its client base and driving revenue growth. This team develops and implements strategic marketing plans to promote the Firm’s legal services, leveraging digital and traditional marketing channels to reach target audiences. They conduct market research to identify industry trends and client needs, positioning the Firm competitively within the legal marketplace. The team also manages client relationships, orchestrates business development initiatives, and seeks opportunities for partnerships and networking. Through compelling content creation, event planning and public relations efforts, they ensure that the Firm maintains a strong market presence and continues to attract and retain clients.
In an era of unprecedented change, the Infrastructure industry faces numerous and constantly evolving global opportunities. Global priorities to decarbonize and digitalize economies, to address climate change, as well as build resilience for critical infrastructure are driving the need for lawyers to structure and implement solutions for developers, government agencies and capital providers to address the changing global demand. The Infrastructure Industry Group is a global, cross practice group that covers clients in all infrastructure and transportation asset classes, including Digital Infrastructure, Infrastructure Funds, Water and Transportation Infrastructure and Assets.
Reporting to the Business Development Associate Director for the firm’s Global Infrastructure Industry Group and working alongside a Specialist in New York, the Business Development Manager will advance the firm’s growth across the global infrastructure industries, focusing on revenue generation, client development, and brand-building. Collaborating with Global Infrastructure Industry Group leaders (based in London and New York), Business Development lead, and cross-functional teams, the Business Development Manager will implement and execute go-to-market initiatives, help manage and grow client relationships, and drive business development and marketing efforts for the wider industry group.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Proactively manage industry group initiatives, including internal meetings, financial analytics and client outreach programs.
- Develop and leverage in-depth knowledge of the Infrastructure industry and its key markets, the firm\’s value proposition and its service delivery offerings relevant to clients.
- Collaborate with industry group leadership and business development team to position the firm to respond to high-growth business generation opportunities presented by market developments.
- Design and implement business development initiatives focused on increasing profitability, revenue generation and client growth as outlined in the Industry Group business plan.
- Identify and drive programs to internally socialize industry-driven business opportunities across practices and strategic client teams.
- Optimize Research, CRM, and BD systems for strategic growth analysis of key sectors presenting high business generation potential and to manage client development pipelines.
- Identify and pursue new workstream opportunities, and track business development engagement and financial performance.
- Establish accurate reporting and forecasting systems to monitor business development activities and performance.
Marketing and Brand-Building
- Design and deploy go-to-market strategies and campaigns that deliver the best of the firm’s interdisciplinary offerings to Infrastructure clients in conjunction with the Marketing Content and Communications teams.
- Create and socialize all the Industry Group’s marketing collateral and credentials, with support from junior Marketing colleagues. Ensure an ‘off the shelf’ set of materials is available for the key focus areas.
- Identify and implement thought leadership campaigns responsive to market developments impacting the Infrastructure industry; drive internal coordination and contributions to the industry group’s online thought leadership publication.
- Oversee relevant input on select Infrastructure-focused pitches, proposals, and RFPs.
- Identify and manage industry-focused client trainings, networking events, conferences, and seminars, with support from the firm’s Events and Communications teams.
- Working alongside practice BD and the BD Specialist, assist with drafting Infrastructure-focused awards, rankings, and directory submissions; assist with interview prep and client outreach efforts.
- Collaborate with Media Relations to elevate the firm’s Infrastructure profile both internally as well as in legal press and Infrastructure industry publications key markets; help lawyers develop relationships with journalists.
Internal Engagement, Education and Communications
- Assist with internal training and upskilling programs to enhance lawyers’ industry knowledge.
- Coordinate internal industry group meetings; prepare and deliver internal communications and reports on group activity and performance.
- Drive business development initiatives for select Working Groups supported by the Industry Group (e.g. Infrastructure Funds, Data Centers etc.).
- Build a network across the firm’s professional services teams to harness resources effectively to help lawyers anticipate, pursue and capitalize on new business opportunities.
Professional Development
- Pursue ongoing professional development and educational opportunities to grow skill-set and business development acumen.
- Enhance the Business Development team’s internal reputation for generating profitable revenue, building client relationships and elevating our Infrastructure brand in the market.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum five years’ experience in marketing and business development within a professional services environment. Relevant law practice, including marketing experience or a qualification in law would be a distinct advantage.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
- Understanding of, experience with and active interest in, the infrastructure industry would be a benefit
- Proven problem-solver with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive, resilient, and highly organized; effective with peers and professionals at all levels
- Experienced in business development, preferably in law firms or international organisations
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organisational and communication skills
- Self-motivated, pragmatic, and flexible; effective independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to take on additional tasks as needed
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with iManage/document management systems is ideal
- Strong oral and written communicator with a diplomatic approach
- Energetic, positive outlook
- Effective team player with team/project management experience
- Skilled networker and advocate; builds strong internal and external relationships

- This role is based in our London office, and reports into the Associate Business Development Director of the firm’s Global Infrastructure Industry Group.
- Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a requirement for 4 days in the office per week (Monday – Thursday)
