As part of White Case's fast-growing IP, Tech Commercial practice in London, you will advise on IP, IT, tech and commercial contracts across sectors. You’ll help identify IP risks on transactions and draft/negotiate complex agreements, including licensing, distribution and R&D deals. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across offices to support cross-border transactions such as M&A and joint ventures. This role fits a technically capable, growth-minded lawyer who wants to shape high-stakes IP transactions in a global firm.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on IP, IT, tech and commercial contract issues across sectors
- Advise on substantive non-contentious IP law issues
- Draft and negotiate complex technology and strategic commercial contracts (distribution, reseller, manufacturing, supply, R&D, outsourcing, transitional services)
- Identify IP risks on transactions and provide pragmatic advice
- Manage aspects of complex IP matters, coordinating with team members and specialists
- Support business development and maintain strong client relationships
- Build internal networks and collaborate with colleagues in other teams on transactions
- Understand the Firm’s strategy and help develop client relationships to support growth
Key requirements
- England & Wales qualified lawyer with ~3–5 PQE
- Strong experience in commercial contracts with IP/technology focus; exposure to M&A support
- Intellectual acumen and strong academic record
- Excellent drafting skills
- Deep knowledge of IP and commercial contract law in relation to corporate transactions and technology contracts
- Positive role model for junior lawyers; willingness to share knowledge
- Ambition to support team growth; sense of humor
- International experience or client secondment is a plus, not essential
