The Associate General Counsel will work as an integral part of our global Office of the General Counsel (OGC), working closely with partners and business service leads to assist the Firm in the management of risk, including handling corporate structural and regulatory compliance work. The OGC acts as the Firm’s in-house legal counsel. Its work focuses on the Firm’s global risk management, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and new business intake.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising the Firm on its global structure and corporate governance, including corporate and partnership secretarial issues and the opening, closing, and restructuring of offices.
  • Advising the Firm on all aspects of global regulatory compliance, responding to new regulations and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential legal and business risks within contracts.
  • Supporting the Firm in assessing current and future reporting obligations given its global structure (for example in relation to Modern Slavery, sanctions legislation, and corporate sustainability laws and regulations).
  • Perform other duties necessary to support the Firm's strategic goals.
Qualifications and skills
  • A qualified transactional lawyer with a practicing certificate admitted in England & Wales and/or New York State, possessing 3-5 years of PQE experience at a leading national or international firm and strong academic qualifications.
  • Experience in a GC/risk team at a major international law firm (preferred).
  • Recognised as a go-to person in specific practice areas, with a reputation for high-quality legal advice and the ability to make commercial, ethical, and strategic decisions in the best interests of the Firm.
  • Inspires a team-oriented environment where members go above and beyond to deliver high-quality work, fostering collaboration, diligence, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Anticipates and responds effectively to firm needs, manages expectations, and adapts to different styles and cultural sensitivities.

Location & Reporting

This role is based in London, and reports into the Deputy General Counsel (Head of Regulatory and Corporate Governance). Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
