Job Summary
Aid in the development and preparation of proposals, prequalifications, and other bid documentation for customer opportunities. Ensuring proposal documents meet requirements and ensure consistency, formats, and overall high standard of quality in compliance with Company’s policy and procedures, and any applicable regulations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Administration of project Opportunity files for a district
- Prequalify and organize project information collected through construction industry database i.e. CMD, BC BID, Cool Net
- Participate in weekly sales meetings. Maintain the bid/tender filing/storage/archiving system and prepare weekly reporting for District Sales Managers
- Update master project file with sales meeting notes and project updates. Manage bid document circulation process
- Consult with vendor representatives for SPD, project pricing or inclusion/insertion of vendor equals on specifications
- Obtain necessary reviews and approvals of bidder exceptions, bid evaluations, source selection recommendations, Subcontractor list, and change orders prior to execution
- Review project schedules and ensure on-time bid and tender submittals
- Review customer and project requirements with District Sales Managers / Outside Sales Reps / Category Managers to determine proper information for tender
- Ensure the smooth management and response to Request for Tenders (RFT) & Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by prospective clients and projects within the scope of White Cap Canada
Nature and Scope
Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor. Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor. None. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year to 3 years of experience
- Commercial Construction industry Preferred
- Diploma in Architectural or Civil Construction Technologies Preferred
- Understanding of Commercial construction and Constructions Specifications Institute (CSI's) Div. 3 Concrete Div.7 Thermal and moisture Protection
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel - spreadsheets, SXe Enterprise, Construct Connect database preferably
