About the role
Whitby Health Partnership has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our dynamic, progressive, and supportive practice, working 5 sessions per week. The chosen candidates will assist in managing a busy and interesting clinical caseload for our patient population.
Main duties
Our goal is to provide excellent clinical care to our community. The main responsibility of the GP will be to manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for our entire patient population. We offer structured clinics, including 15‑minute appointments which are a mixture of telephone and face‑to‑face consultations. You will be supported by a knowledgeable admin team, and a highly skilled nursing team. We also have physiotherapy practitioners, first‑contact physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, social prescribers, wellbeing coordinators, and clinical pharmacists working in or associated with the practice.

We are part of the One Ellesmere Port PCN and work collaboratively with the other Ellesmere Port practices. You will enjoy working with a diverse and skilled team, who are open to new ideas. The team includes 13 GPs, ANPs, practice nurses, GP assistants, a prescribing pharmacist, physios, social prescribing link workers and a mental health OT. The practice is dedicated to providing the best possible care for patients, whilst fostering a vibrant and energetic working atmosphere.

Job responsibilities
The Salaried GP will work as part of the multidisciplinary primary care team to deliver safe, effective, and patient‑centred care to the registered practice population.
Clinical responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality medical care to patients registered with the practice.
- Deliver services in accordance with the requirements of the GMS/PMS Contract, Enhanced Services and all relevant national and local standards.
- Undertake a range of clinical duties including face‑to‑face consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, management of clinical correspondence, review of test results, and prescription authorisation.
- Participate in the practice duty doctor/on‑call rota.
- Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting with a wide range of health conditions.
- Make professional and autonomous clinical decisions in relation to patient care.
- Refer patients appropriately in accordance with local and national referral pathways.
- Provide health promotion, preventative healthcare advice and support to patients.
- Effectively manage patients with long‑term conditions and complex healthcare needs.
- Prescribe safely, cost‑effectively and in accordance with local and national prescribing guidance.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and appropriately coded clinical records in line with practice policies and professional standards.
- Ensure high standards of clinical governance and patient safety are maintained at all times.
- Undertake all duties in accordance with GMC guidance and Good Medical Practice standards.
Quality, performance and service development
- Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Investment and Impact Fund (IIF) and other contractual targets.
- Accept delegated responsibility for specific clinical or quality improvement areas as agreed.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement activities and service evaluation programmes.
- Support the Partners and Management Team in achieving the strategic objectives of the practice.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient services, enhance efficiency and support practice sustainability.
- Review and adhere to all practice policies, protocols and procedures.
Teaching, training and professional development
- Participate fully in the annual appraisal and revalidation processes.
- Maintain continuing professional development and undertake mandatory training as required.
- Support the education and training of medical students, GP trainees and other healthcare professionals.
- Attend and actively contribute to practice meetings, educational events and multidisciplinary team discussions.
Additional responsibilities
- Provide clinical support and advice to reception, administration, secretarial and nursing teams when required.
- Maintain awareness of and compliance with all relevant legislation, professional guidance and practice policies, including confidentiality, data protection, information governance and health and safety requirements.
- Participate in practice audits and quality assurance activities as requested.
- Support business continuity by providing reasonable flexibility to working patterns, including occasional cover for annual leave or sickness absence where operationally required.

Qualifications
- A vocationally trained and accredited GP, preferably with MRCGP.
- Current and full UK driving licence.
