We're looking for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join our team in Bedford and drive operational excellence. Ideally, you'll bring at least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced logistics or distribution environment, along with a proven track record in team supervision and staff development.
In this role, you'll lead a team of warehouse operatives, coordinating all activities to ensure we consistently meet volume, quality, and efficiency targets. Your leadership will play a key part in helping Whistl continue to deliver high-quality, cost-effective service across all our product lines.

About the Role
- People & Resource Management: Plan and allocate resources based on volume and throughput to meet SLAs, conduct daily team briefings and debriefings, and coordinate team activities, delegating and prioritising tasks to ensure smooth operations.
- Team Leadership and Development: Build strong internal relationships, promoting collaboration and information sharing, oversee staff performance, conduct and development in line with company policies, and deliver team training for induction, personal development, and performance improvement.
- Performance Monitoring and Compliance: Contribute to performance reporting, including KPIs, absence, conduct, and health & safety and act as a deputy to the Shift Manager during periods of absence.
- Customer Service and Professionalism: Promote a customer-focused culture and lead by example through professional, courteous conduct and keep internal and external customers informed on operational matters.
- Operational Management and Procedure Development: Manage the loading and unloading of deliveries (goods in/out) and maintain and develop standard operating procedures in coordination with depot management.
- Quality Assurance and Team Training: Conduct quality checks and ensure all team members are evaluated and trained against current procedures.
- Compliance and Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements, including health & safety, data protection, and mail integrity; accurately report incidents, accidents, or near misses in accordance with HSE policies.
- Workplace Environment: Support site housekeeping to maintain a secure, clean, and safe working environment.
Shift Information: Sunday-Thursday 2300-0730 - 40 hours per week, flexibility is required to support operational needs.

Requirements: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to suit different audiences, and confident in giving feedback and influencing others to support people and process management. A logical problem-solver with the ability to assess issues, identify solutions, and communicate decisions with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements. Highly organised and able to manage conflicting deadlines while maintaining accuracy and performance. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook for recording and sharing operational information. Skilled in motivating and developing a team to prioritise tasks and maintain workflow. FLT Licence, First Aid, Fire Warden, or relevant Health & Safety training may be required, depending on the role. Flexible and able to work across different shifts and locations on occasion.
Desirable: 3 years of experience within a 3pl, FMCG, or Down Stream Access environment.
