Join Our Team as a Learning and Development Specialist! Are you passionate about unleashing the full potential of individuals and organizations through transformative learning experiences? We are seeking a dynamic and talented Learning and Development Specialist to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a team of dedicated professionals within our learning and development team.

The Learning and Development Specialist will be required to proactively promote a positive culture across the Whistl Group through the design and delivery of learning and development solutions. These solutions will be primarily focused on the Whistl core career development framework and management capability framework which improves business performance and supports individual development. Learning and Development (Design, Development and Delivery)
  • Deliver the Whistl core career development/management capability framework programmes and other soft skill/behavioural programmes using a blended learning approach.
  • Work closely with the L&D manager and business partners to support the design and continuous development of core and functional competency frameworks.
  • Liaise closely with managers to assess collective and individual training needs.
  • Design learning & development solutions that employ an appropriate blend of on-the-job learning, social learning, and formal learning activities supporting timely application in the workplace and ensuring these remain current and relevant for business needs.
  • Provide one-to-one coaching and mentoring support for managers and staff as required.
  • Liaise with other internal and external training providers to manage arrangements for training delivery.
Administration
  • Schedule and co-ordinate arrangements for core learning and development activities, sending out appropriate pre-course information to delegates in advance of training, supporting follow-up activity, and recording any activity on the Whistl learning management system.
  • Record staff training attendance, keeping training records and files up to date and reporting regularly on activity, impact, and evaluation.
Building Capability
  • Work with the L&D manager and e-learning developer to develop and maintain a rolling L&D strategy and plan that forms an integral part of the broader HR strategy, reflecting the changing needs and priorities of the business.
  • Work with the L&D manager to review and report on key learning and development performance indicators.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
  • Collaborate with management teams and HR business partners to maintain an up-to-date understanding of the business strategy to inform learning and development requirements.
  • Work closely with the broader HR team to support the implementation of all aspects of the HR strategy and provide support as and when needed.
  • Develop, design, and deliver learning and development and employee engagement communication campaigns.

Additional Information
  • This Learning and Development Trainer role is home-based. The position will involve regular national and regional travel between Whistl sites, overnight stays may be required.
  • This position requires a full driving licence and access to a car for business purposes.
  • You will need to be flexible, and willing to respond on occasion to the needs of a 24/7 business in terms of working hours.
Required Skills
  • Good knowledge of adult learning and best practice in assessing learning needs, design and delivery of blended learning solutions, and training evaluation.
  • Able to deliver training in an engaging manner to motivate and achieve high levels of engagement with a diverse group of trainees.
  • Able to organise and prioritise work to meet set deadlines – the ability to project manage a busy and complex training plan.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office including advanced MS PowerPoint skills.
  • Able to work confidently and competently with databases/LMS to track, record, analyse, and report on statistics.
  • Comfortable with data analytics and has experience in data manipulation.
  • Maintain and implement an up-to-date knowledge of best practices to ensure continuous improvement of learning and development and employee engagement solutions/strategies.
