Role Summary

Whisper seeks an ambitious and creative Social Strategist to focus on delivering expert social strategy for a key client. The role involves defining and delivering a sporting organisation’s global social strategy across platforms and markets.

Responsibilities include owning platform strategy, channel governance, content ops, audience growth, and commercial integration across Europe and the USA, while connecting brand ambition, audience insight, and platform mechanics. The Social Strategist will report to the Whisper Managing Director of Sport and act as the senior adviser across all markets, providing advice on Whisper’s overall business social strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a cohesive global approach with clear channel guides for TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat and new platforms.
  • Be instrumental in creating a new and bold brand strategy that has far‑reaching impact across all social platforms.
  • Develop culture‑savvy storytelling that cuts across borders and time zones, shaping how people encounter the organisation’s content on social, focusing on USA, EUR, UK.
  • Grow reach, loyalty and community health through integrated organic, creator and paid activity tailored to market and segment.
  • Tie performance to commercial value and partner with Commercial and Distribution to translate results into sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Embed social‑first, insight‑led practices that raise creative consistency, cultural relevance and measurable output.
  • Develop an understanding of wider client business goals and distil them into actionable social strategies that drive audience growth with key groups.
  • Work closely with analytics tools and insights teams to report back on strategy in action, iterating approaches in a fast‑moving landscape across platforms.

  • Significant year‑on‑year lifts in followers and engaged audiences by platform and territory.
  • Higher engagement rate, average watch time and completion.
  • More referral traffic and conversions to owned and partner destinations.

Experience and Skills

  • Multiple years running social/channel strategy and operations at scale across a number of markets.
  • Senior leadership background preferred.
  • Editorial feel and creative judgement tuned to fan culture, with strong commercial sense.
  • Hands‑on experience operating global handles and rolling out multi‑market programmes.
  • USA consumer content understanding highly desirable.
  • Deep platform fluency in formats, signals, trends and tone and understanding of how to adapt them per channel.
  • Advanced command of TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat and emerging networks.
  • Expert in social’s role in integrated campaigns and always‑on ecosystems, connecting audience insight to creative opportunities, delivering measurable growth.
  • Contributed culturally sharp, social‑first thinking that won work or propelled priority initiatives.
  • Experience in social reporting tools, turning insights into actionable strategic outcomes.
  • Proven experience in social strategy, with an interest in or exposure to brand building, and a curiosity about how social thinking contributes to long‑term business impact.
  • Comfortable and effective in presenting strategic ideas to both clients and internal teams.

Reporting & Team

Reports to: Whisper Managing Director, Sport. Key partners: Chief Brand Officer, Head of Content, Senior Executive Producer, Social and Digital Leads.

Working Arrangements & Rewards

  • Base: Kew HQ; frequent travel to USA, Europe and other offices as required.
  • Work pattern: Office‑based majority; flexible/hybrid arrangements subject to role needs.
  • Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience; performance‑related bonus and participation in company incentives where applicable.
