- WHISPER ACADEMY – WHISPER CYMRU - TRAINEE CAMERA OPERATOR
- Job Summary
The successful candidate will be embedded within the Whisper Cymru team working on projects such as Domestic Pathway Rugby for S4C, Women’s Six Nations for BBC, Formula for Channel 4, Digital content for brands such as The British & Irish Lions, Welsh Rugby Union and documentaries for a range of broadcasters in Wales and beyond.
This 12-month paid placement starts ASAP and provides valuable experience to launch a career in television production.
Responsibilities
Support the in-house camera team across live broadcasts and studio productions, assist with kit management and bookings of equipment.
- Candidate Essential Experience and Skills
- Desire to build a career in the creative industry as a camera operator
- Interest in learning more about the technical aspects of cameras as well as the creative
- Competent across a range of IT software including MS Office and Outlook
- Ability to work in pressurised environments and deal with unexpected challenges
- Ability to work collaboratively and in a team
- Proactive and enthusiastic approach to work
- A love of a wide range of sports
- Candidate Desirable Experience and Skills
- Good working knowledge of a range of cameras
- Basic understanding of sound and lighting

Cardiff, Wales.
Working Days & Schedule
5 day week, all office based.
Flexibility for weekend work may be required.
Lieu days available for any days worked over a standard five‑day week.
Flexitime is possible subject to production requirements.
Start and Contract
August 2026 on a 12‑month contract.
Compensation
National Living Wage.
