A Production Operative (Buffing) in the Machine Shop is responsible for buffing and hand finishing machined parts to a high cosmetic standard using handheld power tools and manual equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for buffing and hand finishing machined parts to a high cosmetic standard using handheld power tools.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all power tools used in the buffing process.
  • Manage stock levels of all consumables using the buffing process and liaise with management to reorder if necessary.
  • Responsible for visual quality control on all outgoing parts that have been buffed. This will again be checked by QC afterwards.
  • Communicate well between machine operators, quality control and management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.

Essential Requirements

  • Have a keen eye for detail.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced machine shop.
  • Knowledge of or experience using orbital sanders and/or hand files.
  • Experience working in an engineering environment.
