Duties and Responsibilities

  • To programme 3 and 5 axis CNC machines.
  • To maintain and update HyperMILL Cam System including set-up sheet and CAD data filing.
  • To maintain and manage tooling system for new, used and obsolete cutters.
  • Manage the efficient manufacture of components.
  • Assist with the development of efficient manufacture practices.
  • To interpret engineering drawings/specifications.
  • To set and prove out new projects at the machines.
  • Collaborate with production and quality team to optimize methods and reduce costs.
  • To escalate any job related/customer concerns to the engineering manager.
  • To ensure all work produced meets the customer specifications.
  • To maintain and operate a clean work area.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent all-round understanding of machining techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Experience of using CNC machine tools.
  • 3+ years experience of using offline CNC programming software.
  • Full understanding of methods of Manufacture.
  • Full understanding of Health & Safety policy.
  • Full understanding of AS90100 & ISO 9001 Quality Standard.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in using HyperMILL CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of Fanuc/Siemens controls.
  • Experience with using a robotic cell.

Personal Skills

  • Able to work on own initiative, and as part of a small team.
  • Flexible in working practices.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads.
  • A positive attitude towards work, colleagues and customers.
  • Effective communicator.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship trained and experienced in mechanical engineering with a minimum 5 years in precision engineering.
