Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Dispensing Optician role located in Leicester.
The Dispensing Optician will advise customers on suitable frames and lenses based on prescriptions, lifestyle, and budget, ensuring accurate measurements and comfortable fittings.
Daily responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, explaining lens options and coatings, adjusting and repairing frames, and managing order processing and collection.
The role involves maintaining product displays, supporting inventory checks, and ensuring that the sales area remains clean and organized.
The Dispensing Optician will provide clear, professional customer service, collaborate with colleagues and optometrists, and follow all relevant optical and retail guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong optical dispensing skills, including interpreting prescriptions, measuring for frames and lenses, and ensuring accurate fittings.
- Customer service and communication skills to explain optical products clearly, handle inquiries, and support a positive in-store experience.
- Attention to detail and basic technical skills for adjusting, repairing, and maintaining frames and lenses.
- Sales and retail skills, including product knowledge, upselling where appropriate, and handling transactions and orders accurately.
- Ability to work on-site full time, collaborate with a small team, and manage time effectively in a busy retail environment.
- Relevant dispensing optician qualification or registration (or progress toward it) is desirable; prior optical retail experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with health and safety practices and a commitment to providing inclusive, respectful service to all customers.
