Whickham School is a high performing and oversubscribed 11-18 school in Gateshead where staff and students thrive together. We’re not just talking about results, we’re talking about a place where people enjoy coming to work and where everyone is supported to achieve their best.
We are looking to appoint an organised, proactive and people-focused People Advisor to join our team on a fixed term basis for one year. This is an exciting opportunity to join the People Team and play an important role in supporting over 180 colleagues across the school. Working alongside the People and Performance Manager, you will support delivery across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, wellbeing and day-to-day people support. No two days are the same and you will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of people activity while helping shape positive experiences for colleagues.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
- Support leaders with day-to-day people matters and people processes
- Coordinate recruitment and onboarding activity
- Help deliver an excellent employee experience
- Support attendance, wellbeing and engagement initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement across People processes
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Experience working within an HR / People environment
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Practical understanding of employment legislation and HR practice
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
Desirable:
- CIPD qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience within education (although applications from other sectors are welcomed)
This role is 18.5 hours per week, all year round. We are open to discussing working arrangements and welcome applications from candidates seeking flexibility, with working patterns agreed to meet both school priorities and the successful candidate’s needs.
