This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working in London with regular office attendance (Tuesday and Thursday WEEKLY), 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and a fantastic pension scheme offering 6% in year one and 11% after this. Salary £30,000 - £35,000 per annum.

Are you ready to help shape how millions of people across the UK understand their consumer rights? Which? is looking for a Press Officer to join our News team and help us achieve high quality media coverage that positions us as the trusted voice of all UK consumers.

About the Role

This is your chance to create positive, regular press coverage in a busy news setting. You'll work on our key advocacy areas, building awareness among consumers and opinion formers. You’ll establish and maintain relationships with high-impact media organisations while looking for ways to reach new and diverse audiences. This role includes regular paid out of hours rota work - around 2 or 3 evening and weekend shifts per week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating media plans that support Which? priorities and wider communication strategies
  • Building trusted relationships with journalists and media organisations that support our brand
  • Developing creative story ideas and selling them to relevant media contacts
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure a joined-up approach to all press activities
  • Maintaining high standards of accuracy in all press office work

About You

We're looking for someone with strong experience in a press office or public relations role. You have exceptional written skills with clear and accurate language. You communicate confidently and have a proven ability to identify newsworthy angles. You can understand complex research and policy issues, pulling out the key points. You have experience creating and delivering media plans that support brand goals. You're skilled at building excellent media and internal contacts.
