About the role:

As a journalist in our Money team, you will be pitching, researching and writing expert news, advice and features on personal finance issues for our online and magazine audiences, and working to identify future trends and consumer concerns. You will also bring your stories to life through our award-winning podcasts, newsletter, social media and video channels. Some of the topics you will be writing about might be complicated, but you will have the ability to crunch data and transform complex concepts into accessible and engaging copy, while always keeping in mind what the news means for consumers and offering them actionable advice and journeys where useful.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create engaging and optimised content across digital and print channels in line with house style, regulatory guidance and tone of voice – including news, advice, video, audio and social media – to meet audience needs and deliver the Money content strategy.
  • Develop content ideas and carry out high-quality research designed to achieve our goals and deliver them in collaboration with teams or individually as needed.
  • Monitor the performance of content against agreed KPIs and work with colleagues across Content, Product and Commercial to ensure content and user journeys are optimised on an ongoing basis.
  • Take ownership of a content topic area(s), develop subject expertise, monitor market and competitor developments and create and update digital content to provide our audiences with accurate, relevant and engaging content.
  • Work in collaboration with Editors and make a personal contribution to team development and content strategy by sharing content creation and subject expertise.

About you:

You will love to write and relish the chance to delve into the weeds of an issue, unearthing the most compelling consumer-focused angles and providing practical advice. With an understanding of what makes a good story and how to present it well, you will be tenacious, with an interest in personal finance, and have experience in creating content for online or print audiences. You will have excellent time-management skills with the ability to work to both tight deadlines and on longer-term research projects. As an excellent communicator, pitching will come naturally to you, and you will be brimming with creative ideas for new approaches to content creation and innovative ways to tell stories, even if that requires a lot of number crunching. We would love it if you have a background in research, copywriting or journalism and some knowledge of current consumer issues. Familiarity with common content management systems and a good understanding of SEO is essential.
