The predicted salary is between 33900 - 38250 £ per year.

This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working, 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and 11% pension after one year of service. Salary £39,000 to £43,500 per annum London/Hybrid (1-2 days per week in the office).

About the role

Along with colleagues in the Data Compliance Office, your role is to support the organisation in making decisions that are right for Which?, right for consumers, and consistent with data privacy obligations. Your day to day responsibilities will be wide ranging and varied, including assessing privacy risks, supporting on strategic projects, investigating incidents, as well as providing expert advice and guidance more generally. You will be part of a friendly group that enjoys working together and celebrates its achievements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Risk assessing activities involving personal data and supporting the business in completing privacy assessments.
  • Responding to data protection queries from internal teams by providing clear, specific and actionable advice, and supporting your business partners.
  • Advising on cross-organisational strategic initiatives involving personal data.
  • Participating in activities supporting our privacy programme, including training, embedding a privacy culture, identifying compliance gaps and supporting the business on remedial actions and plans.
  • Processing and managing requests from individuals exercising their rights under the UK GDPR, including subject access requests.
  • Assessing data breaches & incidents and supporting the business in taking appropriate remedial actions.

About you:

You will have a strong interest in data protection and privacy culture and have an excellent working knowledge of UK data protection regulations. You will need several years of proven experience working in a data protection role, a willingness to learn, an ability to provide risk-based advice, and be able to switch between tasks quickly with a focus on delivery. As you will be dealing with compliance issues and personal data you will need the ability to handle situations sensitively, maintaining a professional approach at all times. You will have good interpersonal skills, be able to communicate with key stakeholders across the organisation at a variety of levels, and work as part of a team.

Our interview process usually involves 2 stages:

  • A chat with the hiring manager by Google Meet (typically 30 minutes), followed by
  • An interview on Google Meet (approximately 45-90 minutes) consisting of values and experience-based competency questions and a role related task on a laptop.
