Are you an experienced applications leader who can shape secure high-performing systems that support great services for colleagues and customers? We’re looking for an Enterprise to lead the strategy, development and support of whg’s core business applications. From housing and finance to HR and customer platforms, you’ll ensure our systems are reliable, secure and seamlessly integrated enabling innovation, transformation and excellent customer experience. You’ll lead a talented team of Application Analysts and Application Support Analysts, building a culture of collaboration, curiosity and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Leading the strategy, governance and delivery of enterprise applications, ensuring systems are fit for purpose, secure and aligned to business priorities.
- Owning the enterprise applications architecture, ensuring interoperability, integration and alignment with wider technology, data and digital strategies.
- Defining and managing roadmaps for application lifecycle management, including upgrades, modernisation and rationalisation.
- Acting as a key link between business teams and technical specialists to ensure applications deliver measurable value and positive user experiences.
- Overseeing application delivery and support, ensuring stability, availability and adherence to SLAs.
- Driving continual improvement in application performance, monitoring, resilience and user experience.
- Ensuring robust change, release and configuration management across all enterprise systems.
- Managing third-party suppliers, contracts, budgets and licensing to ensure strong performance and value for money.
- Championing best practice in application design, integration, low-code/no-code platforms, APIs and cloud-based solutions.
- Ensuring secure, compliant and accessible application designs aligned with data protection, cyber security and governance frameworks.
- Leading, coaching and developing Application Analysts and Application Support Analysts, building a high‑performing, customer‑focused team.
- Embedding a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and innovation across application support and development.
- Supporting audits, assurance reviews and governance processes, ensuring strong risk management and compliance.
- Degree in a technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Must hold an appropriate professional qualification or have equivalent demonstrable experience (for example, ITIL, TOGAF, or a vendor‑specific certification such as Microsoft).
- Proven experience managing enterprise applications in a complex, multi‑system environment.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, integration, and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience leading application support and development teams, including vendor management and SLA delivery.
- Experience of modern platforms such as Microsoft Azure, M365, Power Platform, or equivalent enterprise ecosystems.
- Knowledge of integration technologies (APIs, middleware, ETL) and low‑code or SaaS platforms.
- Understanding of ITIL, Agile and DevOps principles and their application in enterprise environments.
- Experience managing application budgets, contracts, and licensing.
- Working knowledge of cyber security, data protection, and compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership, coaching and people‑development skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, including the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
- Analytical and problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail and quality.
