About This Role
We are looking for a Technology Manager to develop and evolve our Grocery, Pharmacy, and Retail ventures. Our Grocery and New Verticals teams are key to driving major company revenue, and your high-impact work will directly influence the customer and partner experience as we expand our offering to new markets. In this role, you will lead your teams to develop and refine scalable, high-quality software solutions that serve a diverse global market. You will collaborate with multiple product and engineering teams around the world to help unlock new opportunities for our partners and enhance our customers’ experience.
As a Technology Manager, you will provide leadership, guidance and career development for teams that are made up of typically between 6-9 engineers. You will collaborate closely with your stakeholders ensuring that the team remains focused in the right areas and in accordance with our wider architectural principles and practices.
Please note that this position is located in London & is 3 days a week in the office, the rest of the time is up to you!
Key Responsibilities
- Career development: mentoring your team, conducting performance reviews, guiding career development & maintaining a high standard of engineering output from the team.
- Hiring: recruiting, onboarding and retaining our engineering talent.
- Motivation: fostering a positive, inclusive working environment & team culture.
- Project Delivery: overseeing our agile development processes to ensure efficient workflow, and project deliverables are met on time.
- Communication: provide clear communication to our stakeholders, business leaders and neighbouring teams to ensure that we’re aligning our engineering efforts with our business goals.
- Technical roadmap: owning our roadmap, in collaboration with the product manager to ensure we’re prioritising the correct work/projects in line with our business objectives.
- Innovation mindset: adapting and using the latest technology and approaches and coaching others to do the same.
What will you bring to the team?
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align engineering efforts with company goals, ensuring our technical decisions are driving our business success.
- Prior experience as a people manager.
- A deep understanding of software development, the SDLC & a proven track record of delivering high quality software solutions.
- Having an opinion and not being afraid to challenge our senior leadership with the overall objective of delivering value.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Experience of guiding software engineering decisions via influence, rather than by authority.
- Previous experience as a hands-on backend, or full stack software engineer (ideally in backend technologies/frameworks, such as .NET) or as a mobile app software engineer.
