Description Summary: Performs complex assembly operations and leads production teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Under minimal supervision, performs substantially varied and complex tasks.
• Applies advanced skills to perform functions of the position within assigned area.
• Adapts new procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
• Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
• Orients, trains, assigns, and checks the work of other employees.
• Must be able to distinguish colours.
• Knowledge of production procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports.
• Simple computer literacy.
• Ability to work well under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a cooperative working relationship with employees and supervisors.
• Ability to help motivate and encourage employees to reach their goals.
• May help assist in performance management.
• May assume supervisor/manager’s duties in their absence.

Scope:

• Has advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
• Completes assignments and facilitates the work activities of others; may coordinate work beyond own area.
• Proposes improvements to processes.
• Acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others but is not a supervisor.
• Works autonomously within established procedures and practices.

Education and Experience:

• High School w/6+ years’ experience or AA/AS/Technical School w/3-6 years’ experience.
• Certified with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Class Standards.

Physical Demands and Abilities:

• Able to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
• Able to stand for entire shift.
• Regularly possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
