With a strong pipeline of projects and a focus on sustainable growth, we are seeking a commercially astute Management Accountant to support the finance team and provide insight into business performance.
Role Description
As a Management Accountant, you will play a key role in providing timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making. You will take ownership of the monthly management accounts, project cost reporting, forecasting, and budget management, with a strong focus on development projects and construction costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis.
- Project-level cost reporting – monitor construction spend vs. budget.
- Analyse Work in Progress (WIP), cost to complete, and margin forecasts on active sites.
- Rent accruals for our commercial portfolio.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts for developments.
- Review and reconcile project costings with operational and commercial teams.
- Track land acquisition costs, infrastructure investment, and build costs.
- Liaise with commercial and construction teams to review site performance.
- Support year-end audit processes, including liaison with external auditors.
- Provide financial insight to support land appraisals and new project assessments.
- Ensure financial controls are adhered to and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant, possibly QBE.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within construction, property development, or housebuilding.
- Experience with project costing, WIP, and management reporting.
- Familiarity with VAT and CIS compliance is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction or housebuilding cost structures.
- Analytical mindset with a high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., COINS, WinAcs).
- Ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proactive approach with the ability to challenge and support operational teams.
- Deadline-driven and able to manage multiple priorities.
