About the role

At Abbotsford Street Service, we provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to adults of mixed ages with learning disabilities, enabling individuals to live as independently as possible within their own homes.

The people we support have a range of needs and complexities, including individuals who are non‑verbal and those who require full support with all aspects of daily living. Our dedicated and compassionate team works closely with each individual to promote choice, dignity, and inclusion, ensuring support is tailored to their unique needs, preferences, and aspirations.

We are committed to delivering positive outcomes by supporting individuals to develop life skills, access their local community, and maintain meaningful relationships, while ensuring their health, wellbeing, and safety remain at the heart of everything we do.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for caring and committed individuals to join our team as Health and Wellbeing Assistants, supporting adults with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible in their own homes.

As a Health and Wellbeing Assistant, you will provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to individuals with a range of needs, including those with complex requirements and non‑verbal communication. This will include supporting with all aspects of daily living such as personal care, mobility, and mealtime assistance, while promoting dignity, choice, and independence at all times.

You will build positive and respectful relationships, supporting individuals to stay connected to their families, friends, and local communities, and encouraging participation in meaningful activities that develop life skills and promote wellbeing. Working as part of a team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive environment where individuals can thrive.

We are looking for someone who is caring, reliable, and motivated, with a genuine commitment to supporting others. You will be comfortable providing personal care, able to communicate effectively, and flexible in your approach to meet individual needs.

Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. An understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards and a commitment to working in a trauma‑informed, inclusive, and non‑discriminatory way is important. Above all, you will share our values and be committed to supporting individuals to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives.
