Building Pathology Surveyor

Location: Glasgow and surrounding areas

Division: Assets and Sustainability

Grade: SCP 36-39 (£46,036 – £50,266) per annum

Wheatley Group is looking for two experienced and motivated Building Pathology Surveyors to join our dynamic Asset Strategy team.

In this role, you will be responsible for surveying, diagnosing, and recommending solutions for complex building-related challenges across our diverse property portfolio. These challenges include:

• Damp, mould, and condensation issues;

• complex building archetypes, such as Multi-Storey Flats (MSFs);

• net zero and energy efficiency considerations; and

• district heating and other communal energy systems.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across our asset, housing, and repairs teams, providing expert technical advice and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and internal policies.

Key responsibilities:

• Carry out technical assessments to help address asset-related challenges, maximising the value of our properties across Wheatley Group;

• recommend required repairs and investment solutions based on your technical expertise, data, property condition, etc;

• engage with and lead colleagues through your technical expertise and commitment to providing the best solution for our properties and customers to identify and address building pathology issues;

• collaborate and build relationships with housing, repairs, investment, compliance, and damp and mould teams to meet the needs of our customers and business; and

• ensure solutions presented are value for money, including as part of wider investment plans.

Experience and qualifications:

• Professional understanding of building pathology, including the diagnosis and analysis of building defects, deterioration, and failures;

• demonstrable track record of investigating and developing repairs and investment solutions to address particular asset-related challenges;

• experience of contract/project management to ensure agreed outcomes are delivered from a customer and client perspective;

• experience of analysing property issues and recommending practical solutions;

• attain an HND/Degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience;

and

• member of the RICS or demonstrate commitment that you meet requirements and are working towards them.

The role will involve working from home, with travel requirements to customers’ homes, group properties and offices across Glasgow and the West, therefore a driving licence is required.
