A school in Sheffield (S5) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Officer to support the safety and wellbeing of its students from September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in all day-to-day safeguarding activity
  • Manage and maintain accurate safeguarding records in line with school policy
  • Handle referrals to external agencies, including children's social care
  • Provide guidance to staff on identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns
  • Promote a safe and trauma-informed culture across the school community
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals as required
  • Ensure compliance with statutory frameworks including Keeping Children Safe in Education

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a safeguarding or child protection role, ideally within an education setting
  • Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
  • DSL training or equivalent safeguarding qualification
  • Confident communicator with sound judgement and a calm, professional manner
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
  • Organised, thorough and able to manage competing priorities effectively

Candidate Eligibility

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an up-to-date CV with two references from the last 2 years
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education
