ROLE PURPOSE

The Sous Chef plays a key role in supporting the Head Chef to deliver high culinary standards and efficient kitchen operations. You'll oversee food preparation and service, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with food safety regulations. The role also involves managing stock, minimising waste, supporting menu development and costing, and leading sections of the kitchen while maintaining excellent hygiene and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain high food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations
  • Prepare and deliver food efficiently during service
  • Manage portion control, storage, labelling, and minimise waste
  • Monitor allergens, food temperatures, and hygiene standards
  • Support menu planning, costing, and achieving financial targets
  • Supervise kitchen sections and support junior team members
  • Check deliveries and report any quality issues
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house teams
  • Complete relevant records and maintain a clean, safe kitchen
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and hygiene procedures
  • Maintain equipment and report any issues
