Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Optometrist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering high‑quality eye care and enhancing patient service through comprehensive eye examinations and the treatment of minor eye conditions. You will work closely with an Optical Manager, collaborating to maintain high departmental standards, coach and train team members, and ensure the seamless delivery of all services. You will also be supported in advancing your skills through professional development programmes and funding for further accreditations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a range of eye examinations, including contact lens and extended service examinations.
- Provide clinical care and treatment for minor eye conditions, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Work alongside the Optical Manager to support and train team members, helping to maintain clinical and operational excellence.
- Play an active role in coaching and developing new patient services, shaping the overall culture and standards of the department.
- Complete all required professional development and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of best practices in eye care.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, creating a memorable experience for patients and contributing to high patient satisfaction.
- Support the delivery of NHS services, ensuring all procedures and treatments meet the necessary guidelines and regulations.
- Take part in the MECs or WECs accreditation programme (if not already accredited) with full funding and support provided.
- Stay current with the latest industry developments, ensuring your clinical skills remain at the forefront of optometry.

About You
- Is a fully qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
- Has NHS performer status or is a registered performer with your local NHS area team or health board.
- Holds or is willing to complete MECs or WECs accreditation within 12 months of joining (training and support provided).
- Is on track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service and patient care.
- Has a passion for developing and improving patient services, helping to shape the department's culture.
- Is able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team to achieve clinical and operational goals.
