Company: Finning (UK) Ltd Number of Openings: 1 Worker Type: PermanentPosition Overview: As a FieldService Engineer, you will respond to customers’ field repair andservice requests diagnosing whilst providing comprehensive detailabout the nature of the problem to the customer and Finning to createa quote as per the request of the customer within a cost andtime-effective manner.
Working within Finning’sindustry-leading field service department, and for the world\’s largestCAT dealership, you will be at the forefront of the company\’s sitediagnostic and repair capabilities for Caterpillarproducts.
Location – Leeds, Gildersome, Normanton, Castleford,Pontefract Job Description:
You will need to have both outstanding customer focuscoupled with in-depth knowledge of plant equipment. The ability toattend site and understand the customer needs and resolve anymechanical or electrical issues in a safe, timely and cost-effectivemanner, utilising the most up-to-date dealer software and repairtechniques.
As a Finning Engineer, you will receive:
- Salary £38,500 -£43,800

Main Job Functions
- Provide an estimate of arrival time at customer’s site inresponse to service request based on the job instructions from Branchgiving details of customer location, machine, contact name and natureof problem and current work situation.
- Contact customer’ssite management in order to register arrival and presence on site andensure knowledge of customer procedures so as to adhere to siterequirements.
- Diagnose the likely cause of reported equipmentproblems, in discussion with customer operators/supervisors and usingspecialised equipment, in order to provide the customer with aninformation for the work required.Provide a comprehensive detail toallow Finning to construct a quote as requested by the customer.
- Identify the parts required to carry out the repair andrequisition any parts and determine expected time of delivery so thata date and time of any necessary service re-visit can be agreed withcustomer.
- Undertake repair and service work on the machine tothe agreed work plan, removing and despatching components forspecialist attention and re-installing the original or replacement, tobring the machine up to the required standards.

Education and Experience
- Apprentice trained / Formally trained Engineer (NVQ Level3 preferred in Land Based Engineering / Plant Fitting), served as afield service engineer for a significant period or developmentopportunity for a qualified apprentice
- Knowledge in the useof field-based diagnosis tools and equipment essential
- Heavy Earth Moving equipment operating knowledge
- LDV driving licence
- Experience of a variety ofconstruction and static machines essential
