Dillwynia Correctional Centre is the largest female correctional facility in New South Wales. Located on the Francis Greenway Correctional site in Berkshire Park near Windsor, the centre operates with a trauma-informed, person-centred, and gender-responsive approach. The available position is located with the Intensive Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program (IDATP). Within this role, you will be required to work under a Senior Psychologist, in a multidisciplinary team, providing group and individual intervention to address offending behaviour and improve the mental wellbeing of female offenders. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop and enhance skills in gender-informed practices, while working within a therapeutic community model and rehabilitative framework.
What you will do:
- Conduct psychological assessments and deliver individual clinical interventions.
- Facilitate group‑based rehabilitation and treatment programs.
- Provide clinical psychology expertise and consultation to staff on mental health, trauma, and risk, including sexual and violent offender assessment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on behaviour support strategies and case planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in OIMS and psychology files.
- Prepare reports and provide input to statutory bodies (e.g. Parole Authority, Mental Health Review Tribunal).
- Participate in ongoing training, clinical supervision, and professional networking to support best practice in clinical psychology.
What we’re looking for:
- A dedicated and ethical psychologist who is passionate about delivering high-quality mental health and behavioural services.
- Experience in mental health, cognitive impairment, risk assessment, group interventions, and behaviour management in complex environments.
- Understanding of contemporary correctional principles and evidence-based intervention strategies.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Current driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
- Demonstrated interest in trauma‑informed practice, cognitive impairment, forensic risk, substance abuse issues, and behaviour change.
- Strong ethical values with a clear commitment to evidence‑based practice.
- Well‑developed communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- A sound understanding of technology and ability to use technology efficiently in daily work practices.
