As a German-speaking Sales Development Representative, you’ll be responsible for growing our seller pipeline and ensuring that we meet the needs of our buyers on Whatnot. You're a fast learner and a self-starter who is energized by talking to people, solving challenges, and finding the next big sellers to bring onto Whatnot! We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our London, UK hub.

Responsibilities

  • Deeply understand our end-to-end sales process and collaborate with the team to bring high-potential sellers to Whatnot.
  • Prospect, identify, and qualify top sellers that are a good fit for Whatnot.
  • Identify seller needs and solve for gaps with creative outreach strategy & discovery, including, but not limited to, email copy, warm/cold calls, social media outreach, and in-person events.
  • Develop relationships with sellers and work with other internal teams to drive growth for the business.
  • Grow into an Account Executive and Sales Manager as the European team grows.

You

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Fluent in German and English, with a deep understanding of the German market.
  • A passion for our mission at Whatnot – you live and breathe the needs of our communities and work relentlessly to improve their experiences on Whatnot.
  • Always curious and a fast learner, meaning you can pick up and deeply understand all parts of our sales process and the various categories on the platform.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and can hold an engaging conversation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Can take in qualitative and quantitative data to make a judgment call on whether a seller is a good fit for Whatnot.
  • Resilient through the sales process and can handle and work through rejection or objections.
  • Excited about our cultural principles and to work in a high‑growth and high‑potential environment where change is a constant.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Salesforce or any CRM system.
  • 1-2 years of customer‑facing experience.
  • Experience working on a marketplace or two‑sided platform.
  • Passion for creator communities, existing product categories on Whatnot, and/or new verticals that are uniquely suited for live e‑commerce.
