As a Category Associate, you’ll expand Whatnot’s presence in new and existing categories by identifying and recruiting new sellers to join our community in the DACH market.

  • Go-to expert of your category: Become the go-to expert on your category, including seller/buyer dynamics, community channels, influencers, and product nuances.
  • Seller outreach and onboarding: Source and reach out to sellers to convince them to join and grow their business on Whatnot. Onboard groups of sellers teaching them how to use the app.
  • Relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with sellers and top strategic partners to support their growth and meet their needs.
  • Marketing and growth: Spearhead diverse marketing initiatives, such as influencer partnerships/campaigns, to boost brand awareness and attract more buyers.
  • Data analytics: Use basic data analytics skills (SQL) to derive insights from projects and enhance process efficiency.

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our London, UK or Berlin, Germany, hubs.

As our next Category Associate, you should have:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a fast-paced, client-facing role in high-output environments.
  • You are scrappy and flexible enough to work in an ambiguous environment with limited guidance.
  • You are a problem solver with strong project management skills.
  • You have business acumen, are deeply analytical, and are comfortable understanding and manipulating data.
  • Fluent in German & English (written & spoken) with a deep understanding of the German market.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience at a high-growth startup, marketplace, or creator-focused platform.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Passion for creator communities and/or expertise in existing Whatnot product categories.
  • Experience buying and selling in online marketplaces.
