As the group Financial Controller, the role will involve working closely with the CFO overseeing both financial and management reporting, managing transaction processing functions such as in-house accounts payable and receivable, leading the audit process, and being responsible for internal controls. You will oversee a team comprising two direct reports and three indirect reports, playing a pivotal role in the financial processing for the business and owning the implementation of a new finance system.
What you will do
- Financial Leadership: Own the production of timely and accurate monthly financial and management accounts and statutory reporting. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cost control across the business.
- Controls & Compliance: Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. Manage external audits and liaise with auditors and advisors.
- Team Development: Lead and mentor a talented finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Support team development through coaching, training, and clear goal setting.
- Process & Systems: Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting. Implement a new finance system and embed automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.
What you will bring:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller role, ideally within retail or consumer goods.
- Demonstrated success delivering systems upgrades or implementations.
- Strong understanding of multichannel retail operations and inventory accounting.
- Effective people manager with a coaching-led approach.
- Strong technical skills and an eye for process improvement.
- Enjoys thriving in a fast-paced evolving environment.
