How you\’ll make a difference The HomeChoice service provides a high quality, comprehensive housing access service for households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Good housing can help to stabilise communities, reduce inequalities, improve safety and help reduce crime. As a member of the HomeChoice Team, you will play a key role in helping to prevent homelessness, by supporting people to access and maintain suitable accommodation. What you will be doing You will be working with households who are homeless, or threatened with homelessness, to offer them advice and assistance to resolve their housing situation. It will be your responsibility to complete an assessment to determine the council’s statutory duties. Using your experience and knowledge, you will work with households to develop a personal housing plan, establishing what support they may require and their eligibility for various homelessness prevention services. It will be key for you to maintain effective contact with households whilst they are working with the council, to help resolve their housing situation. What we need from you It is essential you have experience in a similar role, either in housing or a specialist environment and ideally be working towards a professional qualification. We require you to be able to demonstrate knowledge of housing options, including homelessness, and have experience of policies, processes and legislation in a similar service area. You will have the ability to carry out financial assessments related to housing options and some knowledge of welfare benefits. Given the elements of this role, you will need the ability to manage your workload, respond to emergency assessments and identify issues that need to be escalated. What you need to know This is part-time position working 18.5 hours per week. Salary is pro-rata to hours worked. Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) basic check is obtained. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 10th September 2025.
