Why this job matters

Ask HR is a team of HR advisors providing support and guidance for all colleagues across BT Group. For complex queries requiring further investigation, Ask HR will guide or hand off to the relevant specialist team.

This role provides invaluable day-to-day people advisory support to managers across BT Group. As an online advisor, you will support on a mixture of people related matters by guiding them to policy and procedure, providing advisory support on informal processes, and providing guidance on how to request support for formal case management. The role will support the triage of new cases/queries, transferring cases into different categories, and assessing case priority and complexity.

Skills and experience you’ll need

  • Experience in a fast-paced, demanding HR role, with experience dealing with people related issues.
  • Knowledge of people relations processes such as sickness absence, performance management, grievance, and misconduct.
  • A good general knowledge of UK employment legislation and people processes.
  • Ability to assess cases in a timely and efficient manner, interpret data, use judgment to assess risk, and be confident in escalating where necessary.
  • Understand the need for confidentiality regarding documents processed, systems maintained, and access to confidential material within the HR community.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with various stakeholders to deliver a first-class service, be seen as personable, and support each other to achieve SLAs and overcome problems.
  • Must have good listening skills and the ability to clearly articulate and advise on resolutions in a way that our colleagues will understand, both written and verbally, as well as having a positive attitude and professional telephone manner.
  • Desirable - hold or be working towards Level 3 CIPD.
