About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absence, supervising whole classes and delivering pre‑planned lessons across a range of subjects. You will provide clear instructions, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students remain engaged and on task, fostering a positive and focused learning environment. You will also take registers, report attendance concerns, and provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and behaviour, contributing to the smooth running of the school day.
In addition to classroom supervision, you will support wider school operations by undertaking duties such as break and lunchtime supervision and assisting with administrative or student support tasks when required. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team, following school policies and behaviour systems to maintain high standards, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
About You
You will be a confident and organised individual with experience of working with secondary‑aged students and a strong understanding of the school environment. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you can manage classroom behaviour effectively while building positive relationships with students and colleagues. You will be proactive, adaptable, and able to use your initiative to respond to the changing demands of the school day.
We are looking for someone who is committed to supporting young people to succeed and can demonstrate strong organisational skills, reliability, and professionalism. You will have a good understanding of learning needs, including SEND, and be confident using ICT to support learning. A flexible, motivated approach and a genuine commitment to inclusion, continuous development, and maintaining high standards will ensure you thrive in this rewarding role.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.
