The kitchen is the reason people drive past three other pubs to get here. We're one of six pubs in WH Pubs, an independent, family-run group across Kent with our own Development Kitchen so the menu changes daily with the seasons in mind, the specials are actually special, we are passionate about using local artisan suppliers. We have a good strong kitchen with six other chefs, all cooking fresh food We're looking for a Sous Chef who wants to cook, not just count. What you'll be doing Running the pass alongside the Head Chef and taking the kitchen when they're off Cooking fresh, seasonal British food from scratch butchery, sauces, pastry, the lot Helping develop specials and seasonal menus with real input, not just executing someone else's Managing orders, stock, GP and kitchen hygiene to a standard you'd be proud to show an inspector Training and bringing on the CDPs and commis we want people who make the team better What we're looking for Solid experience as a Sous or strong Senior CDP in a fresh-food pub, restaurant or gastropub Calm on a 200-cover Sunday, organised on a Tuesday Genuine care about produce you know a good supplier from a cheap one Someone who'll take ownership rather than wait to be told Own transport is a real help out here if prefer to live out What we offer a fantastic salary basic plus a share of tronc and paid overtime if needed Two days off together every week 28 days holiday Generous discount across all six WH Pubs sites Real progression Head Chef roles come up across the group and we fill them from inside first A family-run company small enough that the owners know your name Apply If this sounds like your cup of tea, send your CV to Neal the Head Chef or give him a call 01732 810360.
