WH Pubs is a small, independent, family-run and award-winning group of food-led pubs across Kent. Proper pubs: log fires, good beer, food cooked from scratch, and locals who know the staff by name. We're not a chain, and we don't run our pubs like one. We're looking for a General Manager to run one of our sites. This is a job for someone who wants a pub of their own to run, not a rulebook to follow. What the job actually is You'll run the pub as if it were yours. That means: Standing on the floor at the busy times, talking to customers and leading the shift, not sitting in the office. Building a team that wants to work for you, and keeping hold of them. Working shoulder to shoulder with your head chef, so the kitchen and the floor pull in the same direction. A good knowledge of food will be an advantage, and if you were a chef once upon a time, even better. Owning the numbers: sales, GP, wages, stock and cash. We'll show you ours and expect you to know yours. Growing the business. Locals, regulars, functions, events, Christmas. Our best GMs make their pub the place people choose. Keeping the cellar, the standards and the paperwork right, week in, week out. What we're looking for Experience running a quality pub, inn or restaurant with a serious food and drink offer. That could be as a GM, as a strong deputy ready to step up, or as a head chef looking to run the whole show. Someone who cares about detail. Clean glasses, a well-kept cellar, a table turned properly, a guest remembered. A leader people want to follow. Calm on a busy Saturday, fair with the team, straight with their boss. Commercially sharp. You can read a P&L and tell us what you'd change. Personal licence holder, or willing to get one. If you've run a pub well and want to do it again somewhere you'll be trusted to get on with it, we'd like to hear from you. What we offer £45,000£50,000 depending on experience, plus a monthly bonus based on profit and a tronc payment. It's a very generous package, and the more successful you are the more you will earn.
