You are a key member of the pub management team and will be expected to support the manager and deputy managers in many aspects of the day to day running of the pub, including maintaining the W&H ethos and enforcing agreed standards. The role is primarily hands-on and extremely varied, encompassing people management, food and drink, customer service, pub maintenance and day to day pub administration. Being an Assistant Manager is an ideal opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of every aspect of pub life. We see our assistant managers as the first step on the pub management career ladder and we always try to promote from within when we can, so this position could lead to other opportunities within the company. You'll need to be a real foodie, have a genuine knowledge and passion for decent beer and wine, enjoy looking after others, and help build and direct a happy team.
Key responsibilities:
- Know the food and drinks served at the pub inside out
- Make recommendations to customers and make sure they have a great experience
- Keep communication flowing between front of house and the kitchen for seamless service
- Make sure the team is working efficiently at all times
- Support the Manager and Deputy Manager at all times
- Keep provisions well stocked and refill supplies when required
- Work with your manager on marketing and events, and set targets to boost profits
- Answer customer queries and be on hand throughout service
