Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Sunday varied work pattern with varied start times, overseas (Ireland) and nights out (Cab night out's paid)
About Us: WH Bence, a family owned and run Company based in Yate, Bristol, has been in business for over 40 years. Bence is looking for an experienced HGV Driver to join our established team. Highly regarded UK specialist coachbuilder: contracts include the manufacture and conversion of vehicles for the emergency services, command & control vehicles, hospitality trailers and mobile medical units (Breast Screening, MRI, CT, Heart Cath Lab, Chemotherapy, Retinal Clinics).
This Role:
- Transporting high value specialist medical trailers (e.g. MRI, CT, Breast Screening) within the UK and Ireland
- Transporting high value MRI and CT abnormal loads to, and between, hospital sites
- Escort duties accompanying oversize load deliveries
- Ensuring each delivery is set up to our client’s satisfaction – this includes some manual handling and practical work to ensure steps or ramps or handrails are set up safely on site, and that water and power are connected before leaving site
- Delivery of Fire Appliances, Emergency Service vehicles, Chemotherapy Clinics
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring your vehicle and all Bence vehicles are kept clean and tidy
- Helping move vehicles and trailers within the Bence yard, and between Bence sites
- General local driving duties to support the business (e.g. collect customers from Parkway train station or Bristol airport, collections for the production workshops such as base chassis, panels)
- Delivering fuel and/or water to mobile screening clinics out on site
- Helping with the external washdown of mobile clinics prior to delivery
You:
- Have a Category C + E, with no more than 6 points
- Have a valid Digicard & DCPC card
- Have at least 2 years HGV driving experience
- Be a careful, confident, competent driver – Bence deliveries are not time pressured but need to be completed calmly and professionally, to a high standard, and without any drama
- Have some experience with abnormal loads / escort driving. This is a preferred skill, but training or refresher training will be provided
- Have a mature attitude to working – tidy appearance is also required as the post requires liaising with Bence customers
- Take pride in being the customer facing, brand ambassador for Bence
- Be available to work at weekends, although duties are predominantly weekdays
- Be comfortable with staying out in the cab when required
- In time, may be asked to undertake site surveys for Bence and our clients to check new screening locations
