About The Role

  • WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a
  • Buyer to join our growing
  • Procurement team on a permanent, full-time basis . This role will be based in

Glasgow and will benefit from hybrid working .

You will support the efficient delivery of purchasing requirements across WGM's engineering projects, operational teams and business functions.

Reporting to the Category Manager, you will manage a high volume of purchasing activity, ensuring materials, equipment, plant, services and operational requirements are sourced and ordered accurately, compliantly and within required timescales.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage a high volume of purchasing activity across WGM's engineering, project and operational teams.
  • Source materials, equipment, plant and services to support project delivery across the UK.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and place purchase orders in line with procurement procedures and agreed service levels.
  • Work closely with engineers, project teams and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure purchasing requests are progressed efficiently.
  • Guide and educate stakeholders on WGM's purchasing processes, approved suppliers and procurement best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, supporting reliable delivery, service performance and value for money.
  • Resolve order, delivery, pricing and invoice queries, ensuring minimal disruption to project delivery.
  • Promote compliance with procurement processes and challenge non-compliant purchasing activity where appropriate.
  • Support supplier performance reviews, spend analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Help identify smarter, more efficient ways of working that improve service, compliance and stakeholder experience.
  • What You'll Bring
  • Experience working within a purchasing, procurement, supply chain or similar commercial environment.
  • Experience managing purchase orders, supplier quotations and day-to-day purchasing activities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience building positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Confidence communicating with colleagues and suppliers to resolve queries and progress requirements.
  • The ability to follow established processes and procedures while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of value for money principles.
  • Competent IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and business systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Experience within engineering, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, utilities or project-based environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

A qualification such as an

SVQ, CIPS or equivalent would be beneficial but is not essential.

Salary And Benefits

Salary offered will aligned to the skills and experience demonstrated for this role. Full salary banding is available on request.
